Summer 2021
When schools closed in March 2020 due to covid, Bridges went into high gear checking on our students and making sure they had what they needed to get through these unprecedented times. We knew we couldn't operate as normal, but we also knew how detrimental it would be to cancel any of our work. So, we pivoted totally online, with all one-on-one student meetings, Saturday Colleges, and teambuilding activates going virtual. We even presented a full, four-week summer Foundations program, all from our computers
We are so thankful that summer 2021 will be different! The Bridges Foundations structure will be a little different due to covid regulations at Furman and the CDC, but we will still have an amazing summer.
To abide by Furman regulations, we will have one class on campus at a time, for one week. The fourth week will be day-only activities for Foundations (no rising 10th, 11th, or 12th graders will live on campus that last week).
Week 1: Alpha2s move in evening of June 20, move out morning of June 26
Week 2: Omegas move in evening of June 27, move out morning of July 3
Week 3: Psis move in morning of July 5, move our afternoon of July 10
Week 4: We will have a great week of day-only workshops and activities for all classes!
We will also offer programming and support during the weeks students are not living on campus with us. Students will be given access to a special summer website to keep track of all dates and opportunities.
Crossing the Bridge: Our recent high school grads will have their one-week, intensive college orientation program on campus during that 4th week of Foundations (July 11-17).
Bridges at the Zoo: Bridges students, alumni, teachers, and staff, and their families, are invited to celebrate the summer with a night at the Greenville Zoo on the evening of July 15. More information will be shared closer to the date.
Fun fact: Our Omega class was welcomed virtually in April 2020 and have only participated virtually in official Bridges events!
