Grieving the loss of one of our own
Dear Bridges family,
We are heartbroken by the passing of Seth Smith, a much-loved member of the Omega class and twin to fellow Omega, Sean. Seth was a junior at Woodmont High School, and he played for the school’s volleyball team. He loved life, and he brought that love and energy to Bridges. It didn’t take him long to jump right into Bridges and soak up everything that was offered to him. He worked hard in school, sports, and with part-time jobs, but he always made time for his friends. Seth was the friend we went to when we need to be cheered up, encouraged, and supported. He was the embodiment of love. We are a better Bridges family for having had him with us, even for too short a time.
The family has published his online obituary here, and they have invited us help them say goodbye to Seth on Saturday, May 7:
10-11:30am – visitation at Washington Baptist Church, Pelzer HWY 8
11:30am-12:30pm – service (same location)
1pm – graveside service, Greenville Memorial Gardens, HWY 25
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO SHOW YOUR LOVE?
-
If you would like to meet before visitation for a breakfast with other Bridges members, let Carrie know. We want to support each other through this. (We can also help connect you with grief counselors or other professionals – all you have to do is ask.)
-
We will have a Bridges family memorial for Seth before the summer begins. If you would like to be part of the planning, let Carrie know.
-
Send a message to Sean and the Smith family. If you email me a message for the family (maybe a favorite memory of Seth, or just condolences or a prayer) by Friday I will print and bring to the service. It doesn’t have to be long – just something to let Sean and his family know we are thinking about them.
-
Share favorite photos of Seth. We’ve started a Flickr shared group at https://flic.kr/g/3fXyxB. If you have trouble uploading, you can email pictures to Carrie and I’ll add them.
Losing Seth is beyond comprehension. Reach out if you want help, to talk, or to just not be alone. And I know you will help support Sean in whatever he needs.
Sending you all love,
Carrie
