College Buddies

The summer of 2022 marks our 12th cohort of students taking part in Crossing the Bridge, the college transition component of Bridges. A major piece of this transition is a one-week residential college orientation program, during which we provide as many resources as possible to help prepare students for the road ahead. One such resources is a College Buddy.

 

The Bridges College Buddy Program is an opportunity for someone in the community to connect with a college student by providing support and encouragement throughout their first year. We facilitate a meeting over a meal at Furman, and you take it from there. While we offer guidance and reminders throughout the year, it's up to the college buddy and the student how they communicate. (Text messages and occasional care packages are favorites!)
