This summer, our 11th cohort of students will take part in Crossing the Bridge, the college transition component of Bridges. I am very excited to usher the Chi Class, Class of 2021, into the college transition component of Bridges. We pride ourselves on the ability to provide support for our college students from different sources and our students appreciate the extra care and support they receive during their new journey.
As we prepare for our 24 seniors to graduate and enroll in college, alumni and friends are invited to join or remain a part of our College Buddy Program. The Bridges to a Brighter Future College Buddy Program is an opportunity for someone like you to connect with our college students by providing support and encouragement throughout their first year. Your commitment would include serving as a pen pal and sometimes a guide for navigating campus.
We want to provide each of our students with one buddy. If you choose to participate in the program, we will make sure that you are equipped with the background information on Bridges, the information on the student you are matched to, and the expectations of a College Buddy. There are two events that will be planned specifically for the College Buddy Program:
At the first event, the Bridges staff will meet with the College Buddies to provide an overview of Bridges, Crossing the Bridge, and discuss expectations for the program. At this time College Buddies will receive their student match.
At the second event, College Buddies and students will meet. This is a great time to mingle with all our college-bound students, but especially your matched student.
If you have an interest in serving as a College Buddy, but would like more information, please feel free to reach out to Daphnie Glenn: Daphnie.Glenn@furman.edu, 864-294-3176.
To sign up to be a College Buddy, complete the 2021 College Buddy Form no later than July 1.
